Mansfield, Texas
The Chris W. Burkett Service Center houses multiple departments including Water Utilities, Code Compliance, Building Maintenance, Environmental Collection Center, and Streets/Traffic Operations that were previously spread across the city on several sites. The 3 building, 82,403 square foot facility contains demonstration gardens, a training room, conference room, offices, lockers, warehouse, outside storage, covered drive-through truck bays, a truck wash bay, and covered material storage bins. There is a place for community recycling, household hazardous waste disposal, and a small outdoor amphitheater learning area for schoolchildren overlooking a pond and fountain for water retention. The site allowed for the retention pond and fountain near the entrance which provides a unique entry feature from the street. The demonstration garden provides examples to the community for low water landscape options. The 14-acre site has plenty of room for future expansion and should serve the community well for many years in the future.
The building was completed in September, 2015.
